What can I expect at the first appointment in Psychotherapy?

The first appointment is a chance for your therapist or counsellor to get to know you and your presenting issues better. We call the first session “intake assessment session”, this means your therapist will ask you a variety of questions to gain a better understanding of how they can help you and what kind of treatment plan would be best for your individual journey. You may also discuss goals for your therapy journey in this session. Please don’t hesitate to ask your therapist any questions about your treatment plan at any point in time. Therapy is a very collaborative process!

What do Couples Therapy Sessions look like?

The initial session will last 3 hours in order to properly assess what's truly happening in the relationship and provide direction and clarity. Couples leave the initial session understanding each other on a deeper level and feeling clearer direction and vision in their relationship. We'll also discuss how often we should meet based on the crisis level in your relationship and your therapist will explain how they will assist you in steering your relationships to a better place. Subsequent couples therapy sessions will be 1-2 hours long.
